Colombia agrees to rework labor laws and crack down on violence against union organizers in a deal with the Obama administration, clearing the way for a free-trade agreement to be considered by Congress. The deal would give the U.S. access to Colombian markets without current custom duties and could increase exports by more than $1B/year.

Good grief! The freakin' labor unions really do own Obama, don't they? Unions and Wall Street bankers.

Ah, why am I not surprised to see unions stand in a way of free trade. I will condemn violence against ANY human being. Yet it is not right to hold up trade agreement that benefits vast number of people because of demand for more unions in other countries ... Reference to the 'rework labor laws' requirement.

Obama is a socialist, plain and simple, and that's being mildly polite because he's probably to the left of most garden-variety socialists.

I prefer "socialist-flavored fascist" but yes. Way to the left.

To call Obama a socialist is very narrow sighted. By world standards Obama is effectively moderate right. I suggest you get interested in any non-Anglo Saxon country to see what real socialism is.

Violence against labor leaders sounds like its about violence against them due to their support of organized labor. In reality, its due to cavorting with armed communist rebels in the jungle. Is Columbia going to ask for labor leader IDs before shooting at armed rebels, or are they going to just end the war on rebels? Either way, Hugo Chavez will be happy. Chavez together with narco-traffickers have been supporting the rebels for years. Chavez looking to turn Columbia to socialism and narco-traffickers just looking to traffic narcotics.
