As Facebook halts a mobile ad network trial, eBay (EBAY) says it's giving up on selling ads within its mobile apps. "It's not worth it," says Marketplaces chief Devin Wenig. eBay is promising $10B in mobile Marketplaces transactions this year - the fees on those transactions should easily surpass whatever revenue it could produce from aggressively selling display ads.     Ebay's marketplace is inherently a cash cow and only via monumental management screwups that Paypal's growth has eclipsed it.

     

    Bonzo, Bozo or any other clown could have managed Ebay better than John Donahoe & Co. these last few years of subpar growth and easily maintained Ebay's former pre-eminence over Amazon.
