Joe Biden and other cabinet members are due to meet with law-enforcement leaders today to discuss gun policy after President Obama yesterday pledged to tighten control following the school massacre last week and put the Vice President in charge of an effort to formulate new laws. Proposals could include bans on the sale of assault weapons and compulsory background checks on gun buyers. SWHC and RGR are among the tickers on watch at the moment.

...but that doesn't even make sense that it would be a gun control issue. the murderer didn't even buy the guns, his mom did and she passed all the requirements and would even if they made gun control tighter. what the kid DID do was take psych drugs (legal dope) and that is what triggered the murders. if obama really wanted to stop the murders they would add more tight control on legalized dope.

It's not about preventing things like this from happening again. They know it won't do a bloody thing to stop the next crazy guy who wants to try this. (In fact, these sorts of things almost invariably happen in locations where local/state gun control laws are the tightest.) It's about more tightly controlling what private citizens can do or own. That's all it's about, no matter what nonsense comes out of their mouths about it.

In the meanwhile there's still a plethora of guns out there. Good luck Joe on the new policies. Until you address the mental health issues you have nothing!

Not to mention that every time this happens, it happens in a "gun free zone" like a school or a building known to be gun free. So, the solution is to create more gun free zones? Brilliant.
I notice that no one has mentioned that every one of these nuts has left a note saying that they're going to perform a mass murder so they can "matter" on national TV... I guess that means we need to ban national news coverage of these things, right?... Something tells me that will never be "discussed."

I know I've been a relentless critic of President Obama, but in this time of national crisis, he's stepped up to the plate. He's named a commission to study gun violence headed by Joe, "theyze gonna put chall back in chains" Biden. Where's Buffett on this one? Too busy with the upcoming report from the Jobs Summit?

And where are the race baiters? Hasn't it occurred to anyone that welfare-class children are gunned down in our one-party big cities everyday in numbers that dwarf the Connecticut massacre? Doesn't that smell of racism to you?

    It's all just an act.

Obama doesn't want to appear like he's not doing anything.
Soon enough, people will forget about this shooting, just like Vtech, and that movie theater, and Columbine.

I don't care about being politically correct. I'm only concerned about profits.

Will SWHC go lower so I can buy? It's up 90% this year. Surely people are taking profits. I wish I had joined the party

So we just make sure everyone is armed? Guns for everybody! Or armed marshalls everywhere?

Clearly this meeting is a ruse to convince citizens they care. Don't sell your stock in these companies, they will climb again.

Attn: Fearless 10 pound brain leaders,
If you outlaw our weapons, the only civilians who will have them are the outlaws.

...why is it so hard for privileged people to understand that?

Sell?! Who would do that? Lookit, S&W is a profitable company making money hand over fist. Folks will continue to buy guns and are doing so at an accelerated rate year after year. Bans, restrictions, etc.. only limit those cited guns and so the money moves to other choices in the same market. Limit magazine capacity, and everyone flocked to the 1911 with a 8 round mag, everyone continued to make more and more products selling at higher and higher profit levels. As soon as the old (Clinton era) ban lifted, we saw a rise in the hi-caps again (and CCW guns) I see no reason that will change. Buy, buy, buy right now. I believe it was Buffet who is said to coin, "sell when others are greedy and buy when others are fearful(sic)" or to that effect....well, fear is at an extreme high and another ban will simply force great companies to make new guns that everyone wants.
