Labor disruptions that paralyzed South Africa's mining sector earlier this year are resurfacing, as Harmony Gold (HMY -2.6%) says ~1,700 employees refused to come up from underground at its Kusasalethu mine, demanding the reinstatement of suspended colleagues. The mine had been closed after clashes resulted in shots being fired and damage to mine equipment.
