Could e-commerce transactions turn into a big revenue stream for Sina's (SINA) Weibo microblogging service? Popular Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi sold 50K phones in 5 minutes and 14 seconds through a promotion offered on Weibo and supported by Sina's WeiboPay payments service. Sina, which has been investing heavily in Weibo, is under pressure to monetize the service's 40M+ monthly users. (subscription service)
