M&A activity surges in Q4 to $691.9B, the largest amount since 2008 Q3. It caps off an otherwise slow year where transactions overall fell 10% from 2011. It was only a matter of time, says Goldman M&A chief Gene Sykes, as companies have a $3.5T cash hoard wearing a hole in their pocket (not to mention Mr. Sykes in their ear).
