For another year, Amazon (AMZN) easily topped ForeSee's holiday customer satisfaction survey for online retailers: its score of 88 is unchanged from 2011, and easily above the 85 posted by #2 LLBean. In a PR boasting about the score, Amazon claims 26.5M items were ordered on its peak day.  Apple (AAPL) saw its score fall by 3 points to 80, while Target's (TGT) rose by 3 points to 79.

The 26.5 million items stat was regarding peak day ordered items. The peak day shipped items was 15.6 million. This seems to highlight that even after all the investment, the fulfillment capacity still needs MORE investment for peak demand, as the peak day orders greatly exceeded the peak day shipments.
