Market Recap: Stocks go out near their highs of the session on anticipation that, at a minimum, the tax portion of the fiscal cliff legislation being negotiated in Congress will come to a vote today. The more complex portion, spending cuts, appears less certain and is likely to be dealt with later. The advance came on light volume however, as most traders are still away from their desks for the holidays. Oil prices eased and gold prices edged higher.
