"There is no question the once-open Googleplex has become more compartmentalized," writes Fortune's Miguel Helft in a profile piece on Larry Page. Page's efforts to restructure Google (GOOG) along major product areas, such as search, Android, and YouTube, have produced friction, but a string of successful launches (I, II, III) has quelled much of the criticism. The same goes for Page's efforts to unify the look and feel of Google's offerings, and to tighten integration between them. "For the first time, someone is thinking across Google products," says exec Sundar Pichai.
