Ford (F) intends to hire 2,200 white-collar workers this year in what would be the car-maker's biggest expansion of new salaried positions in over ten years. Three-quarters of the jobs will be in engineering, manufacturing and IT as Ford expands and refreshes its product line-up globally, including in China, where the company plans to triple the number of models sold to 15.

I wonder if these new white collar folks will be American, or Chinese or Mexican? Anyone have any insight on this?

It's great to see hiring in any capacity, I personally hope the majority will be American. I think most will be since F has announced a 700+ million expansion in Michigan alone.

Ford's reascendancy to being a great American automotive story has been a management and product success story. CEO Alan Mulally and chairman of the board Willam Ford Jr. deserve much of the credit to date. They get it that product innovation, appeal and quality must be industry leading.

Not to mention the environmentally-friendly aspect.

Bill Ford is an unapologetic environmentalist, and worked extremely hard to influence Ford's upper management and Board to invest and get Ford's Hybrid, Electric, and smaller displacement Ecoboost engines launched into production, along with rapidly increased usage of recycled, recyclable, and renewable materials in Ford's vehicles, and in the manufacturing process.

Bill is quite literally the "Yin" to Alan's "Yang".
