As IDC reports H-P (HPQ -0.7%) gained PC share in Q4, the WSJ notes the company has begun using some of the analytics software it sells to boost sales of other products/services. H-P is using its Vertica real-time analytics platform to analyze browsing activity for products sold on HP.com, and then use that it info to adjust production and the way information is displayed.
