Apple (AAPL) retail VP Jerry McDougal has left the company, a spokesman confirms. McDougal is leaving as Apple continues looking for a retail SVP to succeed John Browett, whose controversial tenure ended in October. • Do you think loosing the top 2 marketing staff is insignificant?

  • Yes it is. Losing people no one ever heard about is fine. They can be replaced with other complete unknowns. AAPL's marketing is much larger than a couple of people.

  • My dog walker quit last week. She was rumored to be one of three candidates in line to replace my house sitter. That should drop my net worth 3% tomorrow, right?

  • Oh geez, who cares about Jerry McDougal except maybe his wife --- old axiom: "Retirement: Twice as much husband, Half as much money". Bet he left with a pantload of options.

Move on, nothing to see here ---

  • Looks like Jerry McDougal wasn't pegged to be promoted from VP to Senior VP of Retail. So, he walked.

Should be an announcement about a new Retail chief very soon. The company has a LOT to talk about after the quiet period.

    Stock's going up from here.

  • This means that Jerry did not get the job promotion he was hoping for, and is now heading somewhere else. Not surprising.

  • If I was the #2 man and was passed over for #1 I would be out of there as well. Apple, like Nike, needs great marketing to get fools to part with excessive cash to buy the over priced products.

I don't, and never have, liked Apples closed world as it stiffles competition and external development. I predicted long ago that this would eventually lead to a dead Apple but Jobs kept it alive and now its just rotting fruit.

    Apple juice anyone?
