The U.S. Army opens the Morganza Spillway to divert water from the swollen Mississippi. This should protect New Orleans, Baton Rouge, a nuclear plant and eight refineries. However the flooding has affected transport, leading Exxon Mobil (XOM) to cut production at a 504K barrel-a-day refinery by 50K.

    This should protect...a nuclear plant.

There have been instances where the temporary inundation of a nuclear plant had very serious consequences.

When this is over, maybe this nuclear plant that is located on a flood plain could be decommissioned.
