Is a college education worth the expense? Not at these prices, most Americans say, according to Pew survey. A majority (57%) say the U.S. higher education system fails to provide students with good value for the money, and an even larger majority (75%) says college is too expensive for most Americans to afford.

Government monopolies and subsidies have resulted in 12 years of education getting stretched out to 16 or more.

Add to that the fact that most of what is learned outside of engineering can be easily classified as indoctrination not education and you have a failed system.

I saw an interesting docu on inflation.us just yesterday. A little rough in it's assertions but watchable nonetheless and you get the point..

Great!! We have built some of the world's best educational institutions. Now they can educate the Chinese, the Japanese and the Indians. Maybe not our children and grandchildren but surely our great grand children with their "can't read, write or add" high school education will be able to work in their factories.

Yes, unfortunately many Americans seem to be oblivious to the fact that for most, a college education is their only real ticket to career options beyond waiting for McDonald's to have another Career Day.

I am not sure even High school education worth it with these prices. Average cost for high school per student is 10K per year.

And if our children cannot read write or add, what kind of jobs will they get? It is unfortunate that we complain about the cost of education. Complain about its quality and I will applaud you.. otherwise remember a good education is CHEAP at any price.

It is the God given right of every institution to price itself out of the market and we are seeing it daily in these United States.
