Heard during Express' (EXPR) presentation at the ICR XChange conference: 1) After upping Q4 guidance off of its strong holiday season, execs highlight how the retailer's "value proposition" and casual styles resonate with consumers. 2) In a swipe at peers GPS, URBN, and ANF amongst others, the firm highlights how it uniquely sells in four growth categories. 3) Since becoming public, the retailer has impressively notched out five straight years of improving gross margin rates. 4) On design, Express acknowledges "errors" in casual knit tops and sweaters but has done a reset under new leadership.   • Is it rare for a retailer who previously guided lower for multiple qtr's to guide higher for the next year after 1 good 4th qtr from the prior year? Is that why people are buying, because they don't know how high the stock can go and are thinking it could reach $26 again? Or, do they look for high call volumes and base their price target on options?
