100G optical system deployments are picking up, as evidenced by Ciena's (CIEN) recent deal with Comcast. But for Ciena and the market's other top suppliers - Alcatel-Lucent (ALU), Infinera (INFN), and Huawei - all that activity could literally come at a price. "Every supplier you talk to, they talk about the other suppliers coming out with insane pricing for 100Gbit/s," says Heavy Reading's Sterling Perrin. Raymond James has already predicted 100G sales will hurt Ciena's margins. (ALU margins)
