More on Verizon (VZ): Higher pension costs and the impact of Superstorm Sandy drove the company's quarterly loss to more than double last year's mark. Pension liabilities shaved off $1.55 a share and the widespread damage from the storm cut another $0.07. Verizon added a net 567K FiOS digital connections during the period, 31% less than the number added during the same period a year ago. VZ -2.0% premarket. (PR)

    VZ is promoting and installing FIOS in select areas.

    Verizon is also eliminating all but a few of their engineers and right of way staff. It appears the company will rely on Contracting for engineering services these cuts in personel are beyond the BONE. There are not enough people employeed now as engineers in Verizon to do an adequate job of coverage. Moral is at an all time LOW.....it appears time to leave this ship now rudderless with lowell Mc cadem at the wheel
