VMware (VMW) furthers its data center/cloud management ambitions by investing $30M and forming a partnership with Puppet Labs, a developer of software that automates a variety of management tasks for IT admins. Puppet's tools complement those of cloud automation vendor DynamicOps, which VMware acquired in July. Unlike VMware's traditional vCloud offerings, both DynamicOps and Puppet can manage non-VMware virtualization environments. (August launches: I, II)
