General Motors (GM -1%) announces plans to upgrade its Kansas City plant to the tune of $600M. The investment will mark a good chuck of the automaker's projected spend this year of $1.5B to upgrade North American facilities.

    GM built a new paint shop in Oshawa a number of years back for the two car assembly plants. One of the two assembly plants is closing so the new paint facility will be under utilized.
