More warning signs for Coinstar (CSTR)? The company says it will shut down an assembly plant in North Carolina as it shifts its focus to instant video streaming. Another under-the-radar development for the company is the elimination of the Canadian penny which could cut into its high-margin kiosk business in the nation.

Who wrote this? Why the bearish spin? They are not going to keep expanding Redboxes as rapidly - shifting to Rubi. How much of the profits come from Canada coin-counting??? 20% of all profits come from coins, so it can't be too material.

the company did not say it would shut down the assembly plant, Flextronics did. Flextronics is a Singapore company. they said nothing about dropping the contract for Coinstar. maybe the machines will be made in Singapore for 20% less than here. this "Market Current" looks like it was posted by a high school freshman.

Actually the elimination of the Canadian penny may simplify the number of coins to be processed and actually increase the amount of return five fold since the nickel will now the the lowest denomination. Another cost svings for kiosks will be the ventual elimination of the dvd format so that only blue ray will need to be stocked. If they can quickly get their online streaming offered on roku and other devices then I see no downside.

Just another opportunistic post to compliment the array of bogus short reports floating around the street.
