"My god, why are we doing guidance," said ACE, Ltd. CEO Evan Greenberg on the firm's earnings call, joining the list of insurance executives losing patience with the tradition. "I kind of wonder if guidance has outlived its usefulness for you guys," said one analyst. "Everyone here is cheering, because we've said it to ourselves," responded Greenberg.

    I'm too stupid to know what this means.

     

    If it means that nobody knows what ACE will earn, I already know that. My wife told me that.

     

    She also told me to buy the stock because she "got signs" that it was going to be a good investment.

     

    Since I have that guarantee, all I care about is the stinking dividend.
