Before the year is over, chip sales for embedded applications will grow to make up 20% of AMD's revenue, up from a current 5%, says Embedded Solutions chief Arun Iyengar. Design wins for next-gen consoles have much to do with this forecast. During AMD's Q4 earnings call, CEO Rory Read stated the chipmaker has a long-term goal of deriving 40%-50% of its sales "from high-growth markets where our IP is a differentiator." This covers both embedded products and SeaMicro's server platforms.
