Pension issue solved. The struggling Hellenic Pension Mutual Fund sees a 75% gain in assets in six months thanks to a big mid-summer bet on Greek government debt. "It was clear to us the country would stay in the euro," says the managing director.

    Only in the US was the media and public at large generally holding the belief of a Grexit.

     

    There were times when US based observers were yelling themselves hoarse in support of the notion, which received cursory and superficial review on the other side of the Atlantic.

     

    From the Hellenic Pension Fund's perspective, it was easy money.
