Google (GOOG +2.6%) roundup: 1) Google has settled a dispute with French publishers over the excerpting of articles via Google News by establishing a €60M ($82M) compensation fund. Google settled with Belgian publishers last month. 2) There are now 2K schools using Chromebooks, up from only 1K three months ago. The Chromebook platform, supported by H-P, Samsung, Acer, and Lenovo, is battling with the iPad for education IT dollars. 3) Google Maps chief Daniel Graff suggests Google is working on maps personalized to user interests.
