This stock is just a victim of a bad market environment in which any perceived weakness is pounced upon by the bears.

ORCL beats on the top... ORCL beats on the bottom... They are crushing their competition (ie HPQ and SAP)... So the stock drops 5%. Huh??? Does that make any sense? No!

Buy this dip because ORCL is well positioned moving forward and this drop is a gift for the stout hearted.

I don't understand why the stock is going down in after hours after beating the estimates. Can anyone explain the logic?

What did I miss. I didn't hear the guidance, but the numbers seem good. Gross Margins, revenue and licensing all look strong. Will the bloodbath in the after hours continue in the morning?

Some people think that because their hardware sales are down that 6% and because they didn't CRUSH the estimate that they should sell sell sell.
The truth is; software and licensing is the main business for Oracle. They are outgrowing IBM hand over fist. Oracle is selling hardware at a with a high margin (relatively expensive) and it lasts longer. But the trick is they sell licensing and technical support with that hardware and that is where they make the big profits.
POINT BEING: The people that sold just do not understand this company's fundamentals.

ORCL has Hurd. I see this as a market adjustment and in the long-run ORCL will move up. ORCL should not be compared to HPQ, IBM, etc.
