Blackstone (BX) has joined Apollo and KKR in acquiring a securities underwriting license as it looks to widen its sources of revenues. While KKR makes over $100M a year from its underwriting operations, there are concerns about Blackstone straying from its core private-equity activities, as well as about potential conflicts of interests.
