A rabid fan base for gaming hit Minecraft has helped to set up developer studio Mojang AB as one of the hottest privately-held gaming properties in the industry. With margins that make larger gaming companies envious - $90M in profits off of $235M in sales last year - Minecraft's runaway success can be linked to a very creative platform (think Legos on steriods) with low-res graphics which help to make it a natural for smartphones or smaller devices. Though venture capitalist firms and industry giants have been sniffing around, Mojang hasn't taken on any outside investors yet.
