German composite PMI jumps to 54.4 (flash 53.6) in January from 50.3 in December; services 55.7 (55.3) vs 52. The data "underscores the striking degree to which momentum in the German economy has shifted from contraction to expansion at the turn of the year," says Markit. One "encouraging development was a change in service providers' year-ahead outlook from neutral to its most positive" since H1 2012. (PR)
