Coming off a quarter where its non-mainframe server sales fell considerably, IBM (IBM) is expanding its integrated PureSystems line, and moving its Power server line downmarket. New offerings include: 1) The PureData System for Analytics (competes with big data/analytics systems from Oracle, EMC, and Teradata). 2) The PureApplication System, meant for cloud app deployments. 3) Power servers starting at less than $6K. 4) High-end PowerLinux servers for analytics apps. 5) A performance boost for the expensive and share-losing XIV storage line.
