A Broadcom (BRCM +0.5%) Wi-Fi/Bluetooth combo chip (perhaps a 5G Wi-Fi part) has been designed into Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S IV, according to Evercore's checks. The firm also sees evidence of "a greater mix" of Qualcomm (QCOM +2%) Snapdragon processors being used for the S IV than the S III, which relies on both a Snapdragon and a Samsung Exynos processor (depending on the model). Broadcom remains the combo chip market's undisputed leader, but recent acquisitions by Samsung could lower its dependence on the chipmaker.
