A group of some of tech's biggest names win the auction for Nortel's 6,000+ patents and patent applications, agreeing to pay $4.5B for the lot. The consortium includes Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), EMC, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), RIM (RIMM) and Sony (NYSE:SNE).
