A Nokia (NOK) Windows Phone with a 41MP image sensor (similar to that of the Symbian-based 808 PureView) will launch this summer in the U.S., sources tell The Guardian. A January report from The Verge claimed the phone will have an aluminum body and be sold by AT&T. If the report pans out, the phone should arrive around the same time as Samsung's Galaxy S IV, and just maybe an iPhone 5S.

    yup agreed... in 5 years I think it'll be hard for companies like sony to sell their small digital cameras as phones will basically cover that market as well...

    why 41? why not 40? 50? 25?
    41 just seems like an odd number?

    Check this video, it will explain why 41. Basically the way the lens is constructed and due to its size it is capable of capturing 41MP. However, this does not mean that the actual photo will be 41MP, rather ~30MP. This is because the lens is round, while the photo is usually a rectangular shape.

    cameras are great, but im woried nokia is losing focus on sound quality, and apps, and if its clunky and heavy it will be a dud

    Blown away at the news, this phone will be amazing. I was going to get an SIII or the new BB Q10, but I'll just stay put for this one.

    41MP? Holly smoke. I just bought a Nikon D800 for 3K, and it has 36MP, considered the biggest sensor in the DSLR market of today. Does Verizon carry this phone, too?

    @FXTrading101
    Supposedly Verizon will get something similar called (I Believe) the 920 Laser, or perhaps the 922. I'll have to go load up all my "Research Articles" on Nokia. I just read the conversation about the Camera Phones within the last week. I'll post a link here tomorrow if I can find it. I just read so much on Nokia that I get disorganized.
    @Lumiaman
    From what I have read, the new Camera Phone is going to have a lighter aluminum body, and I have heard concern that it will be so light that the spring "Stabilization" won't be able to compensate for the inherent movement from the human hand not being able to hold it since it will lose it's "momentum" and be blurry.

    Back to @FXTrading101
    How does that Nikon compare to the Cannon "High End" Digital Body? I have been using my Elan II and a 5200 DPI Slide Scanner to scan in my 35mm shots before Photoshopping them.
    I was about to buy a new digital body since I have multiple (up to 300) zoom lenses. When I saw this as a possibility, I have to stop and reconsider. Can I blow up a 41MP digital picture in Photoshop far enough to simulate putting a 300 Zoom lens on the Digital Cannon body? I'll have to get pictures from both I guess to tell. I know that the AT&T store would let me sample a pic with their 920/808 blend, but I wonder if the Camera Store will dare let me upload a pic off their Cannon camera if they know what I am comparing it to? I should take this Photography Convo to another forum, so if you want to send me an answer, please message me.

    Hi Warrior

    Sorry that it took me to long to come back to SA. Anyway, regarding your question, which Canon bodies are you referring to? Canon has an equivalent to the Nikon D800 is the Canon 5D Mark 3. Personally, I like the 5DMIII better, primarily due to its focusing system. This is a system that Canon puts in its top of the line 6K camera. For the rest of your question, I'm not sure if I know the answer. Better go to the photo forum and ask them there.

    I indeed will go there. It may well be the last camera body I ever buy, and once I finish getting this 64 T-Bird restored, my hobby money will go there. I do a lot of Landscape, Sunset/sunrise, as well as birds here in New Mexico. About any camera can handle the wide angle views, assuming you have the right lens. For birds, I often have to blow the image up so I need a fast shutter speed to catch the bird in flight, then HQ detail to enlarge it. I found that Photoshop clone programs just don't cut it. Have yet to find a program that does better than the original. I have much to learn about photography. If I researched it as much as stocks, I could maybe sell some LOL.

    Nokia will go lower before it rebounds. Technically it is not very strong.

    <sigh> another person who listens to "Analysts"
    I listened to Analysts the first year I started Trading. Lost My Shorts and LongJohns)
    Took me maybe 3 years to view Analysts in a profitable way. Now I make money as a Contrarian. When they say Buy, I sell.......

    Why only AT&T? Many Verizon users stick with Verizon because the reception quality is excellent throughout the Country and outside the Country. It is a fact that many of us have tried AT&T, and found it necessary to dial back to Verizon.

    I stay with Verizon because I live in a less populated area. Many places here in NM I can get no reception alt all. Even inside the VA hospital, Verizon is the only provider that I get a signal with. In Eastern NM and the Panhandles, Verizon has the best signals when I can get any. AT&T may have great 4G in populated areas, but out in the woods, only Verizon bothers to reach out. I tried Sprint for 2 years, and it was terrible out here once you get away from the city.

    Like the Nokia 808 you can use the camera with the full 41 Megapixel capability or in an enhanced PureView mode with 3 sets of 8 Megapixel sensors working to improve clarity and color in the image (though you would only have an 8 Megapixel image from this).
