The Semiconductor Industry Association estimates global chip sales to have risen 1.3% Y/Y in May, results that are seen as in line with projections of 5.4% growth in 2011. The industry was hurt in May by the lingering effects of Japan's earthquake, as well as a slowdown in demand for PC industry chip suppliers such as Micron Technology (MU).
