Activision (ATVI) now +5.4% AH in response to its Q4 beat, even though (as is often the case for game developers these days) guidance was light. PC and Other sales surged 125% Y/Y to $398M (15% of total) thanks to demand for Skylanders toys. Online subscriptions +11% to $277M in spite of a 400K+ Q/Q drop in World of Warcraft subs to 9.6M. Home console game sales flat Y/Y at $1.68B (better than peers), handheld consoles +11% to $100M. North America +11%, Europe +2%, Asia-Pac +19%. (slides) (investor sheet)

As I commented in a early report about ATVI, just watch the children's faces at Wal Mart, SKTLANDERS...Big money....look for new 3-D models in the coming years... One can't see the forest because of the trees...I like going to the Big Malls with my wife and grandchildren...not to shop; but, to see.... what moving......not so much..I'm long.jpmj4847

I like Activision, I play Skylanders and COD with my son, and I owned the stock up until this report. It was a bright ending to 2012 but it was an ending and now investors look ahead... to a very bleak outlook. 2012 earnings came in at $1.19. Co. forecasts 2013 earnings at $.80. That's a plunge of 33% if my math is correct and the market and analysts won't be celebrating that guidance. In fact, I suspect the shorts are sharpening their knives - and if you're still in the name I would bet that it's best to get out quick as you can.

Done. I've been waiting for a high to dump, as this stock has done little for me in the years I've owned it. Perhaps it is a cyclical and I had the wrong strategy all along...
