OPEC warns in its monthly oil market report of "political, price, economic, weather, environmental and geological" stumbling blocks that could prevent U.S. oil production from meeting lofty expectations. The group sees U.S. production rising from 10.42M bbl/day in Q1 of this year to 10.6M in Q4; it expects demand for its own crude to fall by 300K bbl/day in 2013 vs. last year.

Oil production in North America is more politically or economically risky than oil production in the Middle East? More price risk? Weather or geology? Maybe if Yellowstone blew up. The US, by law, doesn't export crude anyway.
