The shutdown of Minnesota's state government forces MillerCoors, a joint venture of MolsonCoors (TAP +0.8%) and SABMiller (SBMRY.PK), to pull products out of stores, restaurants and bars due to an expired license, reports say. Employees who process license renewals were laid off when state government shut down services.

No state employees also means nobody is around to prosecute for selling without a license. Just sayin'

So the numbnuts who run Molson Coors and SABMiller couldn't renew their license proactively ahead of the well advertised potential shutdown and continue sales of their products? And we wonder what management gets paid for?

It's the retailer's license that is at issue, not the distributors. Forgive me, but is your doctorate in political science?

Ahhhh.... Your right. I think Wisconsin has a state law that requires anytime there is an intersection of two roads, that there be a minimum of one tavern present.

    Gotta love it....

I've ridden my Harley on many miles of back roads in Wisconsin. Great state, love Milwaukee. Probably the #1 party town in my book.

What you all seem to be missing is that this is the effect of depriving the state of the taxes normally extracted from the retailers. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

In a way, I think this whole Minnesota thing is pretty funny, because it brings to the headlines just how disfunctional the various government entities are anymore.

Is it just me, or has the whole political spectrum gotten a bunch more polarized in the last 6 years or so. It seems like almost anyplace I look, you see more and more stupid, empty, meaningless comments like "Bush killed us all" or "Obama is trying to destroy America". No facts, just sound bites and bumper sticker slogans.

You're just noticing?:-) And it's longer than six years.
