French flash manufacturing PMI climbs to 43.6 in February from 42.9 in January; manufacturing output 41.2 vs 40.8; services drops to four-year low of 42.7 from 43.6; composite index falls to 47-month low of 42.3 from 42.7. "PMI composite output data suggest that the first quarter is shaping up to be the worst since Q1 2009," says Markit. "A range of indicators from new orders, backlogs, employment and output prices (are) all residing at depressed levels." (PR)
