It's a crushing blow for NBC (CMCSA -1.9%) as the network finishes fifth during the important sweeps week for the first time in its history. That CBS, ABC, and Fox would beat NBC was well-telegraphed, but a slip below Univision was a bit more painful for execs to take. The post-Olympics ratings rush is long over as the network hangs on by a thread as it waits for a return of The Voice and Revolution to its lineup.

NBC has worked long and hard to get to where it is today. Congrats on a job well done.

Maybe GE should have sold NBC to Al Jazerra

Many locations in the heartland don't have the channel on their standard cable lineup.

More so, those underground silos have pitiful reception.

GE could have ousted NBC management of the editorial nightly "news" broadcasts and replaced it with "neutral" broadcast journalists who report news. And hold double talking con-artist pols feet to the fire when they contradict themselves within the space of 48 months. Then coupled that with some creative folks for their prime time viewing slots.

But what the heck, GE obviously doesn't care about running a profitable network and having an honest nightly news division. It's an outreach for the WH propaganda machine coupled with a cult of personality disorder. When the leader speaks, NBC (not to mention MSNBC) listen raptly. Never question. No discrepancies noted.

With the likes of the MSNBC crowd tainting everything else and NBC then be so political for the WH it is not a surprise!
