VMware (VMW) appears set to step up its battle with Amazon Web Services (AWS): the company is reportedly working on a solution that lets clients move private cloud workloads onto a VMware-owned cloud infrastructure. The report comes as sales of VMware's costly vCloud suite pick up among private and public cloud owners, and CEO Pat Gelsinger all but declares war on AWS, which is expected by Oppenheimer to produce $3.25B in 2013 sales. Also reportedly in the works is Project Zephyr, a public cloud that directly competes with AWS, Google, Microsoft, and Rackspace.
