IMS Research sees emerging markets accounting for 45% of all set-top box shipments from 2011 to 2015, as pay-TV demand grows in China, India, and Latin America. This is a positive for STMicroelectronics (STM), whose set-top chip sales are weighted towards emerging markets, and a negative for Broadcom (BRCM), which depends more on sluggish developed markets.
