Production of oil and gas from shale is growing fast enough that North America may be an energy exporter within a decade, ConocoPhillips (COP) CEO Ryan Lance says. Shale development, which brings a faster payoff than a liquefied natural gas project, has changed the investment cycle because it does not require massive up-front investments, he says.

Companies including COP need to remember that as LNG &CNG use increases the nat gas price will rise and oil price will begin to drop to meet them. Gas production companies are all in a race to go oily, at some point that trend will revert back to gas.
I am long COP and intend to stay that way, but am concerned that they will miss the gas revolution. This revolution will take several years, but big companies need to think that far ahead. Investors do too.

How do you factor in public opposition costing stocks real cash related to health effects in drilling near people? ....
Those who R healthy in the shale get sick, those who were sick get sicker or die quicker, and those now dead R free from the dread in LIVING in this BarnettShaleHell.

Notice they say "North America", which means the United States AND Canada; Canada is the largest supplier of imported petroleum to the US by far.
