Judge Milton Tingling in New York halts the NYC ban on large-sized soda drinks, calling the measure "fraught with arbitrary and capricious consequences." For now, it's game on for vendors and beverage companies (PEP, KO, DPS) to sell sodas 32 ounces or larger.

  • As a great patriot once said, "I may not agree with the amount of soda you want to buy, but I will defend to the death, your right to buy it in large quantities."

I can't believe this law even passed in the first place.

  • Finally some common sense. I think Bloomberg should pay the legal costs to appeal this himself since it is his personal crusade.

  • I don't drink large sodas, nor do I live in NYC. That being said, the judge's ruling still makes me feel good (or at least restores some amount of my faith in the judicial system).

  • It is refreshing to discover that there is at least one judge in NY with reason. "Fraught with arbitrary and capricious consequences"...indeed.
Bloomie has finally risen on his own petard and it is time to go before he unleashes more dictatorial tomfoolery on this great city.

  • I will on occasion drink a 20 oz Coke, I enjoy it. I am not obese, most people would describe me as thin and if I want a large Coke on a hot day I should be able to have one. Let freedom ring!
