Verizon's (VZ) 45,000 striking workers will head back to work on Tuesday - but without a deal. Two employee unions will keep negotiating a new contract, but it looks like the company's decision to suspend health benefits at month's end will get strikers back on the job for now.

    Hey wyatt.
What part of that 20% do you think can do the fiber, or for that matter, the copper splicing that we do. Maybe after 4 or 5 years experience most of them could but that's a long time to wait for productivity. The truth is, WE, the union employees of Verizon have built the finest wireline AND wireless company in the country.( WE splice the fiber that goes to the cell towers) Your elitist, "let them eat cake" attitude is what's ruining this country. NOT the hard working, family raising, UNION men and women.

Oh a hostage taker, eh? You sound like a Tea Party terrorist. Like a typical union sheep, you overestimate your worth to the company. If I was Ivan, I'd call your bluff so damn fast and the ones who weren't bluffing, I'd do a fastrack PR jobs program. Equal bennies, equal pay, on the job training. Only problem there is that the govt. prop of UI is so long now that it isn't encouraging enough people to see their own need to find work and be productive. So in essence govt. is making it worse as usual. Your union elitist "let them eat cake" attitude is what's ruining this country. NOT the hard working, family raising business owners, both moms and pops.

I doubt a blue collar spool holder or a cable runner takes an engineering degree. If Reagan could fire Patco and seamlessly bring in a new crew of young kids to replace the air traffic controllers without a hiccup on flights, I doubt getting rid of you fools would be that difficult. And let's face it, that job is a lot tougher than 'the cable guy'.

Hey, great timing there though. Who runs your union? Yeah, strike at 20% national unemployment. Genius move. Hardworking Americans hate unions for what they've done to this country. Congratulations. You're the single most reason why offshoring jobs has been the trend for the last 15 years. Your bleating is literally so offensive and sick that just the sound of your voices drives people to want to leave the country.

Please CC, If you don't splice the copper, Verizon will find someone else who will. By the way, how much innovation did you and your union come up with in order to make the process successful?? What new and successful technology have you and your union created??? That's what i thought!!

Ignoring the fact that we "the Union elitists" are building the fiber LTE network that will provide future revenues for Verizon, what about the average underpaid, uninsured middle class that can't afford this newer, more expensive technology and are happy just being able to call their friends and relatives, oh yea, and Police, Fire and Ambulance emergency responders. Be very proud of yourself. We all get what we deserve in the end.

Yeah, we all get what we deserve in the end, union drone.

Detroit, Pittsburgh, Buffalo. Burned out industrial towns left after union terrorist dopes vampirically suck every last shareholder cent out of a company, then they offshore just to escape the leeching mob of dependents.

    Be very proud of yourself.

You are the reason why we don't have a middle class anymore.
