A touch-only successor to the BlackBerry Z10 (BBRY +13.9%) will launch in 2H, and Sprint (S) will carry it, AllThingsD's Ina Fried reports. Sprint is expected to begin selling the QWERTY-sporting Q10 around mid-year.

  • A complete reversal of position is not done on products that are not selling.

  • The article you are citing says that the Z10 WILL NOT be available on Sprint but another all-touch device from BB in the 2nd half of the year....that the Q10 will be available mid-year. FYI.

I too think it interesting that Sprint's CEO stated just a few weeks earlier that they would ONLY carry the Q10 and now this news. I suspect that Sprint customers were upset with the news that the Z10 would be unavailable on their network and registered their complaints with Sprint....and they have relented, but how many fervent BB users will not wait until the end of the year to get a near Z10 device?

I think many Sprint customers will bolt for the Z10 to other carriers regardless of this news...especially if sales and reviews are strong for the Z10 in the U.S. as they have been around the world.

  • I believe (T) & (S) are feeling a shift in the wind. Ever since the market pickup BB chatter, Apple began to dive, and slowly BB stock began to come out of its coma. One can only live on their reputation for so long .

  • Good to see the reversal from Sprint. But unfortunately for them not good enough, as they will lose quite few customers to the competition who will carry the BBRY Z10 starting next week. Already on sale for Bus customers by T Mobile, and on Pre-Orders from AT&T with an actual sales date of March 22.

  • This means that Sprint's CEO actually used a Z10 and loved the touchscreen aspect of it.

  • I don't know why Sprint suddenly have a change of heart, If anything they got caught with a large inventory of other stuff which they need to get rid of prior to receiving the New wonderous os 10." Receiving the Z 10 now will only conflict with the inventory what's on hand.

  • Sounds like the time estimate is near when Sprint (S) may finally sell a Windows phone. Existing inventory must be killing them. The Samsung Galaxy S III is already heavily discounted at Sprint.
