NPD estimates U.S. PC shipments rose only 4% Y/Y in July, with sales in the "subnotebook" category falling 13% thanks to tablet demand. However, shipments of Apple's (AAPL) Macs rose 26%, eclipsing global FQ3 growth of 14%. A MacBook Air revamp and the release of OS X Lion helped drive new purchases.
