BlackBerry (BBRY +8.3%) has received an order for 1M BB10 phones from one of its "established partners" (exactly whom remains a mystery). The announcement has sent shares flying higher over the final hour of trading. Also: Verizon (VZ) says it will begin selling the Z10 on March 28, and will start taking pre-orders tomorrow. As was rumored, the carrier will have exclusive access to a white version of the device.

  • This announcement plus the announcement that What'sApp is not available for BB10...could this be just the start of a series of good news ahead of the financials release on March 28th?

  • This is just the kind of numbers we needed to hear. From 1 customer! Awesome. hehe they could have come out and said "We have just received a record order from one of our customers." and then some JA would have said "So they ordered 6 phones before and now have ordered 8." So I am soooo glad they put a number to this one!!
Ok, let's see someone spin this negative,...come on! I need a good laugh.

  • I have a negative. Why didn't they name the "established partners" (exactly whom remains a mystery).
    14 Mar 2013, 08:28 AM Reply Like
  • @Michael Bryant - then turn your negative into a positive! If you don't trust the company and the CEO then cash out now!

No one is making you hold the shares except for your greed. So why don't you take a deep breath and ask yourself why you are in it? Either accept what the company is telling you and cash out when the stock reaches 20+ or cash out now if you would rather trust the negative voice in your head.

What difference does it make who the "established partner" is? You did not buy the stock based on this deal - you bought it because you believed you can make profit from the hype (obviously). So don't worry about which chicken laid the egg - just start counting the eggs and when you have had enough eggs - make an omelet!

  • Shorts are smacked twice in 3 days. I have posted several times that this is a very risky short. Rest my case.

It is just too explosive to be short,

  • Anyone know this order was booked in Feb or March? I'm assuming a Feb booking would be a catalyst to some more volatility;)
    13 Mar 2013, 04:19 PM Reply Like
  • @rocmon : I don't think it much matters when it was booked because the writing is on the wall. They had less than 8 weeks to sell to by Feb 28th or even March 2nd. The great news is that we now know WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT from the nay sayers that the demand is there and BBRY is BACK with a big bang / boom!

So if not March 28th - then June will show increase in sales which is a ++++

  • What will James Farceass say about this? Probably that the mystery partner actually cannot afford this order so it will be cancelled.

  • I often wonder why so much hate. It seems (BBRY) bulls hate (AAPL) and the (AAPL) bulls are striking back. (MSFT) bulls hate (AAPL) and the (AAPL) bulls are striking back. I don't want to hear another opinion that so and so is a crappy product with no facts to back it up. As far as I know, all are good products. (MSFT) has its strengths. (AAPL) has its strengths. And (BBRY) has its strengths.

  • Thanks to the late US launch, the full US sales will hit next quarter rather than being split up. Enjoy the ride longs.

I wonder how many more shares these morons will short after today?

You'd think they'd cut their losses and bought at 13 to ride the wave back up and makeup their losses to break even. Then again, these guys aren't gambling with assets they own.

  • To me, shorting is immoral. But that is just my opinion. If the stock is really bad, people who actually hold the shares will sell and the stock will naturally fall. Why have shorters exacerbate this?
