In a sign of the times, Adobe (ADBE) is ending boxed sales of its flagship Creative Suite. The product will only now be available via online downloads and (of course) the subscription-based Creative Cloud platform. Much like Microsoft with Office, Adobe has gone out of its way to encourage it Creative Suite base to migrate to cloud subscriptions. FQ1 results arrive on Tuesday.

  • DVD and CD drives and burners are becoming a thing of the past, especially on many newer laptop computers. While I don't personally like the idea of the subscription software model, especially given the number of bug fixes needed on most new software, it is a mechanism for steadier revenue.
