Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) +2% premarket on the heels of a Reuters article discussing news that China's ENN Group will establish natural gas fueling stations in the U.S. The Chinese company wants to start with 50 stations this year, about equal to the 50-60 CLNE is planning; Shell has said it plans to build ~100 LNG fueling stations in the U.S. but has not given a timeline.

Some may wonder why this is good news for CLNE when it signifies increased competition. There are two benefits that I can think of.

First CLNE remains the market leader in stations. ENN involvement validates the thesis that there is a powerful and inevitable move toward natural gas fueling in heavy use diesel powered trucks.

Second CLNE is already a market leader in the manufacture of LNG. The recently announced partnership with GE to build two new LNG plants will give them a leadership position in providing the LNG for their own pumps and for others.

It is also helpful to share a market sometimes. CLNE cannot build stations everywhere. With others coming in and building some, nat gas is more readily available to the entire country. Just strengthening the movement
