Airbus (EADSF.PK) has won an order from Indonesia's Lion Air for 234 Airbus A320 jets in a deal worth $24B. The booking is a blow to Boeing (BA), as Lion Air had been seen as a fortress for the U.S. company.

The Boeing 787 is a beautiful plane, that being said, the older fleet is not as a good as the competition. Neither financially nor efficiency wise.

The market that BA and EADS play in is overwhelmed by subsidies, side deals, national interests and other intrigues. Investment in BA must take that into account.
