Synaptics' (SYNA +2.1%) Samsung Galaxy S IV design win could boost its 2012 revenue and EPS by $100M-$120M and $0.50-$1, thinks Needham, which has upgraded shares to Buy. The firm thinks Synaptics' Hover tech, which enables the S IV's touch-free gestures, allowed the company's touch controller to beat out that of sensor hub supplier Atmel (ATML). Needham adds Synaptics has "gained significant share" with Nokia, BlackBerry, HTC, LG, and Sony, while maintaining a dominant position with Huawei and ZTE.
